    Summer is over already??

     DSCN0384

Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Maine.

This has been quite a summer!  My publishing job was over at the end of June due my boss's retirement/selling of the company. I had three weeks off, and then 2 weeks in Bar Harbor, doing improv every night a a great theater. It was alot of fun, but I did miss my man alot and chicago and all my friends here.

I got back Aug 6th & started looking for a new apt AND a new job. My roommate & I did find a nice place, it is smaller than the last one but cheaper for me (the same as her old studio) and we have a roof top deck- cute! Just north of Wrigley. We can see the stadium lights and one of the 'cubs' signs, and we can hear the cheering at games. I'm temping now as an admin for a large engineering firm, which is ok, so we'll see how that goes.

Comedy update: still rockin. My team at iO is alot of fun, my PG team is gearing up for our annual blowout halloween show, Louie & I have a sketch show coming up oct 13.

It's getting chilly, and tomorrow is the first day i'm going to wear a real jacket.... fall!

My bro got married in June, & on the way back to Chicago we visited Catawba:

    It's shakin

holy h, there is a building down the block from my office being demolished.  i'm not sure if that is what it is, but i can feel this building shakin it up. like it just started 5 minutes ago.... wierd!  The building on the corner used to have a cute little diner, Cambridge House, that had awesome potatoe cheese soup.  And the day I got hired at this job the boss took me over there for our final 'interview' and to make my offer.  A great diner, potatoe cheese soup, and a historic moment in my personal Chicago history is now being jackhammered apart, piece by piece, to make condos.

The last time Vanessa (my improv friend & office neighborhood lunch buddy) and I met there, we had a great waitress whose personality would have fit a highway patrol officer.  "Young Lady!" she said as the cue to state our orders. Fantastic, right?

Ok, well in the time it took to write this, my building stopped shaking, so I think we're all right now.  Regular updates:  Writing 5 show at Second City has come together really well & is fun & funny.  4 more fridays.  Conservatory level 5 show is being developed in class, & yesterday our teacher used my song as an inspiration to the format of the whole show!  Basically, it involves characters at starbucks, buses, trains singing monolouges to introduce scenes and is 2-3 steps away from my original song, but still. The original idea was all the different people in starbucks singing. yay!  Louie is still my BF & April 9th we are doing a 20 minute sketch show as part of a sketch comedy series at an improv theater here.  I am a little too busy right now, but that will slow down as my conservatory class is over in May. :)

Hello friends, the few that read this.

Wow, it is 2006 and now i am 25 years old.  I am done with classes at i.o. and my round is waiting to hear if we get on teams, which means we get to continue performing there and one day be like Tina Fey et all.  my 2nd city class is now in level 4 of the conservatory, and i am also acting in a level 5 writing show. which is interesting in that it's ok (especially the stuff that my friend in the class wrote), but they don't laugh at us while rehearsing, and it feels like a real play bc it is so quiet out in the audience.  how do 'real' actors know when people like the show?? even in improv sometimes quieter audiences tell you after that they liked it, but usually the laughter is a good indication.

i totally have a wonderful boyfriend now too, which is a little wierd bc i am used to being 'single sally'.  but he is superfun, nice, and funny all in one tall drink of cherry koolaid (he's a dark redhead & i think that is funny to say) We have been dating since right before thanksgiving and officially 'steady' since right before christmas. thanks santa!

anyways.. chicago is still rockin my socks off and i am busy busy but it is so great.  the weather is picking up & we're getting closer to the high 30s/40s and i am getting excited for some nicer weather.

TTYL you guys!!!  (i also for some reason think it is funny to write like a teenager... because I AM SO OLD NOW! )

    :)

i WAS on B E T!!  Wow, so Lamorne was back from his finalist trip to NYC today, and i guess last Thursday was his special on BET where they showed his 'story' and the tape he made that i mentioned in my last post. And he said that they showed the clips of me and 2 others in our second city class talking about why people should vote for him. Is that crazy or what?  awesome, cross "appear on b.e.t. " off the list folks. there is a 2 minute recap tomorrow at 5 and they annouce the winner Saturday at 7, so i am going to tape it & see if they show it again, if not he said he'll get us a copy.  i guess they used the part where i say 'lamorne helps white people understand black people stuff' or something.

I got a penguin shaped humidifier & the steam shoots out of the beak.

So basically, could things be more awesome? oh wait that's impossible.
